Welcome to the ASA Umpire Program!

The ASA umpiring groups on Long Island are listed under DISTRICT 8 ASA which is a  part of  SOUTHERN NEW YORK ASA.

The links in this section will serve as your source for all the ASA umpire news including rule changes, local umpire clinics, new umpire classes( when & where ) and leagues to officiate in. Our program welcomes umpires who transfer from other ASA locations or other umpires who have worked other programs, who are willing to be properly instructed in ASA rules and mechanics

ASA Umpire LogoThe ASA umpire program is among the nation's largest officiating organizations with over 42,000 officials actively involved each year. ASA officials are nationally recognized as the best trained and proficient in the sport and are involved in competition starting with league play, city, state and national championships. Many of our local District 8 ASA umpires have officiated in National Tournaments, all across the country.

The ASA annually hosts local, state and national umpire clinics which literally blanket the nation and bring the best instruction available in the sport to every region. Over the last decade, the Amateur Softball Association's umpire program has become an innovator in the production of quality training materials. When a clinic is not available - videos, books, slides and other instructional aids allow instruction to continue.

District 8 ASA has over 330 umpires who work throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties servicing Adult Slow, Adult Modified, Adult Fast, Co-Ed, Women’s, Youth and Little League.
